My opinion

Now I have seen most of the Scandinavian circus and in my opinion the quality is very high. Yes there is some circus were the service and surroundings wasen´t all right but the performance was absolutely okay. At the moment I have seen Circus Arena, Benneweis, Baldoni and circus Arli all Denmark – Agora and Merano Norway and in Sweden I have seen Brazil Jack and circus Olympia and again almost all the performances has been okay.

Last year I was criticising some circus for dirty toilets but it seems that the problem has been solved for the 2003 season because I haven’t found any dirty toilets until now so the next step must be better handicap facilities. A few circuses don’t have toilets at all and in my opinion that is really outrageous and absolutely not acceptable in 2003. I know there can be some difficulties to get rid of the garbage but that is a problem there must be solved.

As usual there have only been a few circus from outside Scandinavia on visit here in the north. It has always been difficult for circus to visit Scandinavia and one of the reasons is the law against some animals in circus. When the law was carried out in the sixties many circus was afraid for their lives. Especially the Danish circus Benneweis who did have a huge range of wild animals was afraid for there existents. Today it is different and most circus are absolutely satisfied for the law, most in Denmark because it prevents the big circus in Germany to visit their neighbour. Many great circuses are touring in North Germany and they perform in the cities just outside Denmark but they never cross the border because the Danish law would never aloud them to perform with lions and tigers.
