Magic dealers

It is "in" to be a magician these days and especially close up magic is very popular. Lots of dealers in Scandinavia are fighting about the costumers and normally that would give lower prices. Circus Scandinavia bought some requisites so we could see the value of the merchandise and what we could gain for our money. We have also tried to by some magic stuff outside Scandinavia and bought a few tricks on the net from England.

The biggest dealer in Denmark is Steen Pegani. He is a magician himself and he is the most well known dealer in Denmark. We bought some stuff to see what we got for our money. We bought clatter box. A Requisite there is funny when it goes in many parts when one of the spectators try to do some magic with the box. The trick is nice but the quality on the wood used to make the requisite is very bad. It is made of some soft wood and after a few times on the floor it has lots of marks and the corners was destroyed. – The price is too high but the trick is nice and very visual. We paid 75 $ or 75 euro. We also bought the dice box the price here was 160 $. This requisite was better; the material was better and much nicer. A top class requisite for the professional magician but again the price is far to high. We bought some sponge balls and the quality here was good. Two books were bought "My sponge balls" I wouldn’t call it a book more a instruction. Two tricks with those fascinating balls that was all. In this book. the material was ordered by phone and we received it the day after the order –Nice and fast. The employees with Pegani are nice and the service is just fine.

Harris in Sweden is another well-known magic dealer. We ordered a catalogue by Email and it took 4 weeks before we received the material – Because of the long waiting time from Harries we gave up our order. Maybe Harries is an old and well-known dealer but their prices are extremely high. Their quality is very nice and they supplies lots of professional Scandinavian magicians with tricks.

In Norway there is only a few possibilities to buy tricks and that means extremely high prices. I bought a pack of bicycle carts in their store in Oslo and that was an expensive experience. 60 Norwegian crones or 8 dollars (9 Euros) that’s almost 3 times the normal price. There wasn’t many tricks in the magic store and I understand why. Their can’t be many Norwegian magicians who can effort this price level.

A&Z magic, a Danish dealer, sells mostly toy tricks and doesn’t sell those expensive professional requisites. A&Z magic is very cheap and the service is nice. Most of the tricks are sold on the Internet but it is possible to visit the store if you call A&Z magic before you arrive. The service is very nice. The prices are very low and there are thousands of tricks to choose.

Lots of magic in A&Z magic.

Emagic tricks.co in England is an Internet based store only. They have everything in stock both for the amateur and the professional. The prices are fair but not cheap. They have actions some times and you can bid on some very nice requisites. It is maybe the cheapest magic dealer but everything are eaten up by the post fee. It is possible to receive emails with news and events. The service is friendly and you will receive your package in a few days.

Another Internet based store, are the Danish "New magic" they doesn’t sell requisites but only DVD and video tapes. The tapes and DVD’s are very expensive (They are in the others stores too). There is a lot of nice stuff for the professionals and the beginners. There is a few offers on the site and Circus Scandinavia bought 3 DVD’s –25 tricks with a Sven Galli deck – 25 tricks with a thumb tip and Balloon magic. The DVD with 25 Sven Galli tricks was crushed but there was no problem to gain a new copy. On the DVD’s were 25 tricks both for the beginner and the more professional magician. The Balloon magic DVD is a nice way to learn making those funny balloon sculptures, starting with how to inflate the balloon to a rocking horse. –Nice for the amateur.

If you surf on the net there is thousands of dealers offering everything. It is possible in many of the sites to see the trick before you buy. So if you have a fast connection you can be entertained free from thousands of magic dealers showing their tricks. It is common in magic that you buy the idea in the trick not the material in the trick. So don’t be disappointed if you only receive a rubber band and an explanation, because that’s very common but the trick can be great anyway.
