Circus Arena

Circus Arena, this year with a new super tent and the absolute best comfort. Director Benny Berdino dreams was to be the greatest in Scandinavia and Arenas materials are in an absolute super class. Everything is nice and clean in circus Arena and their circus cars and wagons are just beautiful. In circus Arena it is free of charge to visit the stables and everybody is welcome to visit circus at any time. That means no fences around Arena

The performance was great and to be mentioned are acts like Sonny Frankello with his four African elephants. Carl Ramwell did a very nice juggling performance. Ciobanu a flying trapeze troupe from Brazil – started up a little weak but later in the season they were absolute fantastic. BonBon – the Danish reprise clown is just great.

BonBon outside circus Arena 2003

There is only one circus in Finland but it is a nice international circus with a very nice performance. It wasn’t possible to see Circus Finlandia for me self so I have received this report from my Swedish friend Goren Persson. A nice performance with out really big stars but The American Robin Valencia as a living cannonball was very impressing. The Danish pick pocket artist Kenny Quinn was nice.

Circus Scott

One of the old Swedish circuses did as always an international performance. Lots of nice artists were touring with Scott around in Sweden this year. Best of all is the Scott circus band with a modern sound very well adapted to the acts. The horses was presented by James Johansson but rented from Circus Olympia and those horses were the only animal act this year. Circus Scott don’t like old fashion clown entrees and uses only reprise clowns and this year it was André Brogger. Poor man last year it was Fumagalli, the Italian star, so André had to work very hard to reach the level from the 2002. But he did an okay job. Segura did a fantastic parterre acrobat act. Malthe Knapp was called in to replace the Zebras late in the season and as always he did a very nice mono bike act. Kahliafov did a fantastic Perch act and Color of Brazil delivered a very special fighting sport act.

The performance was very short but in a high quality.

Circus Arli

Circus Arli (Denmark) a small circus with a performance mainly for kids. Best act this year was Alexando (Alexander Arli) with his ladder entrée. Betina Arli´s entrée as a dog trainer was OK. I saw the show on the premiere date and I’m sure it became better later in the season. The dogs were rented from Circus Arena. Arli is a nice and friendly circus and it is very nice for kids and their parents. It’s not a top class performance but who says it had to be if there is a nice atmosphere? Surroundings in Arli are good, they have a nice and clean circus and a nice little souvenir store.

As always a nice performance, with some nice acts. The clowns – Grigorescu- did a okay musical entree but the most spectacular act was done by jury Anatoli (last year in Circus Arnardo –Norway). He manages to swallow litres of aeroplane fuel and spit it out in an enormous cascade of fire, very very special and different from modern acts.

Circus Baldoni

Circus Baldoni (Denmark) and their second year on the road was a nice positive surprise. A much better performance than the 2002 season. Lots of humour in this animal free circus. Circus Baldoni makes a mix of circus for kids and international circus artists. Best this year in Baldoni was with no doubt Katya in vertical rope. A new gradin made a much better view. Circus Baldoni is a nice clean circus with clean toilets and surroundings. In my opinion Baldoni will develop into a great circus the next few years. The whole idea is great, the humour in this circus are very nice.

Circus Benneweis the oldest circus in Denmark was building up the performance around the Italian world star clown Fumagalli and there is no doubt – he is great. But there were a few other acts with a great value. Steven Pedersens sea lions was a nice experince and Novikov troupe did an extremely strong gymnastic performance – great. Benneweis normally ending their summer tour with a 3 weeks show in Copenhagen but this year it was only a little more than a week. A very turbulent season for director Diana Benneweis because, she agreed that Elephants and sealions shouldn’t be aloud in circus in Denmark.

Circus Mascot a nice-small Danish circus. This year there was no doubt about who there was the best – Guligov the reprise clown, seen before in circus Olympia in Sweden but this year in Mascot. Very nice. Daniel and his Rola rola act was very nice and Mariannes dog training is absolute OK.

Circus Merano is an absolute top class international circus. A great circus with nice and clean surroundings. Lots of nice acts this year and the young Alan Sulc impressed me a lot – He is going to be a big star in the circus world in a few years. Alan will perform in Circus Benneweis(Denmark) in the 2004 season. Don Christian did a very nice reprise clown job for the second year in Merano. Adriana Folco with Friser horses and elephant was nice too. Voladas did a very strong rech act in very high level.

Circus Skratt (BonBon)

Circus Skratt (BonBon) starts up their season in Sweden and later they continue to Denmark where they perform a shorter version of the show in BonBon land (Amusement park south of Copenhagen). In Denmark circus Skratt changes the name to Circus BonBon and stays for 2 months with 2 performances every day. Circus Skratt is a part of the Berdino family (Circus Arerna) but rented in Sweden by Bo Ronneberg.

Lots of nice acts in Skratt this year. Circus Arenas Dromedarys was on tour with Skratt and was performed by Nadia Kroplin. ) 9 Oprescu did a very nice spring board act in a high level. Tamara from France was in Skratt 10 years ago and now she was back with a nice swinging trapeze act. Trio Kolobov was in charge of the funny part of the performance and circus Arenas mighty black Friser horses was performed by Nadia Kroplin, a very nice act.

Circus Agora

Circus Agora – Nice show in this 2003 jubilee year, many nice acts. In my opinion it was Robert Beruzeks ladder balance and the Russian reprise clowns Jury and Leon witch made the best impression, but also the Swedish mono bike artist Malthe Knapp was great. Agora had to work with their surroundings and their seats was a hard experience but nothing wrong with the performance.

Circus Maximum – Director Kallquist promised last year that the season 2003 would be their best year because of Maximum Jubilee, and he was right. Maximum gave the audience a very nice performance maybe the best ever? Very high class through the show. Best in this 2003 performance was the acrobat troupe FISH. It was absolutely new thinking in a extremely high class but also the old fashion musical clowns Rossyans on their second year in Maximum was great. Rossyans will be a part of Circus Arenas 2004 performance.

Circus Olympia

Circus Olympia in Sweden is always a nice experience. The owners Herbert and Henrika Bengtsson made, as always a nice performance. Olympia is a small circus with room for 700 Spectators but they have always an eye for very nice but unknown artists. The performance includes, as always, Herberts liberty horses in a very high level and this year it was the Irish Tinker horses that later this year was rented to perform in circus Scott. Also Henrika Bengtsson with her very charming dog act was on the program this year and it is always a pleasure to she Henrika perform with her puddles. But there was absolute others in the performance doing a nice impression. - Trio Tsytko with their fantastic antipode/Ikarian games was just world class.

Circus Dannebrog

Circus Dannebrog. Did a nice performance in their 2003 seasson. This year they tried to make a story in the performance and they succeed very well. The acts was done very smoothly and combined on a new way. A Camel act mixed with a tissue act was very nice and the dancing girls was nice too. An absolute ok. Performance where the best act was Freddy Antony with his musical Honk horn concert. Bernhard Cassely with his Elephant(s) and camels was a part of Dannebrog this year too and as always a nice acts.

Circus Arnardo is at the moment the oldest circus in Norway. Making a nice international performance with international top artists. Best artists this year must be Mr.Dalmatine with his humorous and positive dog/pony show. Also Michel Clowns are very funny
