The Circus war.
As in many other countries there is a circus war going on in Scandinavian Not only the big circuses also the small companies are using funny methods against each other. They can’t talk to each other not even write. They are keeping their tour plans as a secret to prevent other circus to put their show up before them. And the result is scary because small towns have some times circus performances more than 2 times on a week but with different circuses. That what happened in Slagelse – Denmark early this season where the two biggest circuses in Denmark, Arena and Benneweis, was visiting the same place with only one day between. It is very cheap to go to a circus performance in Denmark but I don’t believe that the people in Slagelse are going to more than one circus performance on a week, so the result must have been a bad for one or both circus. And that’s really stupid.
A few years ago Circus Arena and Circus Dannebrog should have been in the same town, on the same place and on the same day. That’s of cause impossible and Dannebrog was cancelling their performance. It’s absolutely crazy and the directors are trying to solve the problem with blaming the local governments because they are renting out the circus places to often. It’s like kids there can’t find out the rules in a game of monopoly and had to ask their Dad to solve the problems so they can go on.
In Sweden the two biggest circus Scott and Maximum, seem to live with each other but that’s not the true. If you are looking on the Internet you find a private homepage owned by a Swedish guy, this guy seems to use all his spare time to write ugly , and I mean really ugly, stories about Circus Scott. At the first time it look likes a private homepage but after a little "digging" I found out that this was Webmaster for circus Maximum…….Sad.
The small circus companies are not doing any better. Two circus at same day, same town but two different places. Putting up their hangers on the same place, shoulder by shoulder, trying to over do each other.
It’s not a new problem lots of circuses in Scandinavia have interfered each other for ages and the result have been the end for many great circuses. The question is of cause how many there is room for in relative small countries like Scandinavia ?? and live with the frase that "only the strongest survive" ???
